DIY: Renovace starého rámu – Old Frame Renovation

Jakmile jsem si ho přinesla domů, rám se mi zdál poněkud fádní a cítila jsem nutkavou potřebu jej nějak oživit a “zrestaurovat”. Na internetu jsem hledala, jak na to, až jsem narazila na tento návod na renovaci dvířek staré skříňky. Když jsem se v něm dočetla, že na moření dřeva lze použít i barvu na textil, a já si uvědomila, že mám doma zbytek tmavě modré, bylo o budoucí barevné podobě rozhodnuto.
Once I brought it home, the frame seemed to me to be a bit dull and I felt an urgent need to revive it somehow and get it “restored”. I was looking for tips how to do it on the Internet, until I came across this guide to renovating an old cabinet door. When I read, that the textiles color can be also used for wood staining, and I realized that I had the rest of the dark blue textiles color at home, the decision about the future color of the frame has been done.

Oprava zadní strany/Back side correction

Než jsem se ale pustila do samotného rámu, musela jsem ještě trošku opravit zadní stranu zrcadla, která byla poškrábaná a zepředu to bylo bohužel vidět. Pomocí obyčejných akrylových barev jsem se pokusila namíchat stejný odstín, jaký byl ten původní.

But before I started with the frame itself, I had to fix the rear side of the mirror, which was scratched and these scratches were unfortunately visible from the front side. Using ordinary acrylic paints, I tried to mix the same shade of gray colour as it was the original.

Barvení rámu/Painting the frame

Zatímco barva na zadní straně zrcadla zasychala, rozmíchala jsem si v horké vodě barvu na textil a několika vrstvami jsem natřela rám. Jak se barva rychle vpíjela do dřeva, měla jsem trošku obavu o výsledný odstín (vypadalo to prostě jako mokré dřevo), ale nakonec byl opravdu hezký tmavě modrý.

While the paint on the back of the mirror was drying, I dissolved the powdered textile colour in hot water color and with several layers painted frame. When the paint quickly soaked into the wood, I was a bit worried about the final shade (it looked just like wet wood), but he was really nice dark blue.

Then again I used acrylic paints and I painted the stained and dried-up frame (luckily that day the sun was shining and it was very warm, so everything dried-up incredibly fast on the balcony) with two layers of blue. Finally I sprayed the frame with matte acrylic varnish.

Jelikož jsem trošku perfekcionistka, ten samý postup jsem zopakovala i na zadní straně rámu. A ještě ten samý večer jsem mohla “restaurovaný” obraz v našem bytě pověsit. Jak se vám nová podoba obrazu líbí?
Since I am a perfectionist, I repeated the same procedure on the rear side of the frame. And that very evening I could “restored” painting hang in our apartment. How do you like the new design of the frame?
